Critter.Net Acceptable Use Policy
User Accounts
- I agree to use my account only in accordance with the Critter.Net
acceptable use policy, as defined in this document.
- I agree to provide my real name and an alternate email address which
will be associated with my account.
- I agree to keep my account secure, and not use any non-approved login
or access methods. Wherever possible, I shall use a secure connection
(ssh, slogin, scp) to connect to the machine. (ssh is 'secure shell',
and the recommended way to log into the machine for shell sessions. You
may download
our recommended program - PuTTY.
- I agree not to share my account with people, disclosing my
password to them or sharing encryption keys. I understand that if I
believe my account to be compromised by either myself or others, I shall
change my password and notify the administrator of critter.net.
- I understand that my account can be terminated at any time for any
reason, with or without notice.
- When I no longer need or wish to have my account, I will notify the
administrator of critter.net to disable my account.
- I understand that any information stored on my account or provided
below will be kept private to the best of the abilities of the
critter.net administrator. I also understand that any information I give
about myself for my account will not be sold to any third party.
Usage Policy
- I will not use my critter.net account for any commercial purposes,
unless permitted to do so by the administrator. This includes, but is
not limited to:
- Commercial software development
- "spam" or other mass advertising of a commercial nature
- Storage of commercial files, with the intent to distribute from
critter.net
Artists may use their webspace to sell prints.
- Piracy and other illegal activity is not permitted.
- Harassment of others on the net or on Critter.Net is not permitted.
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
- Mass advertising using a mailing list, mailing alias, or other
means. (This is commonly known as "spam")
- "Mail bombing"
- "Denial of Service" attacks against other machines and services
- Hosted websites and webpages should not be discriminatory
against any race, creed, nationality, or religion.
- Any security related issues (world or group writable files which you
do not think should be, etc) should be reported to the Critter.Net
administrator.
- The web isn't all copyright free. If something is placed on a
Critter.Net account that is in copyright violation, it must be removed
upon request. This request may come from:
- the administrator of Critter.Net,
- the holder of the copyright,
- or someone acting on direct behalf of the copyright holder

- While Critter.Net does allow for adult artwork on sites hosted here,
it should be only accessible through pages with appropriate warnings as
to what content follows. It should not be possible to get to artwork of
an adult nature from the top level 'index' page of a site without going
through a warning page.
- Follow the general rule of "do unto others as you would want them
to do unto you" or whatever variation on that you wish. In short,
don't be rude, and don't harass others.
